DIY: Succulent Planter
Do you think outside the box? I think my brain was wired a little differently than most because I seem to do it a lot. 🙂 I look at things and I’m always thinking “Hmmm…how can I use that for something else?” Take for instance this hanging lantern from one of my favorite stores World Market. I was wandering around and saw this beautiful brass and glass lantern and it was on clearance…my favorite word. Though I couldn’t think of a place to put the lantern it struck me that it would make a gorgeous and “different” terrarium planter. A very popular decor item these days. 🙂 I filled the base with small rock from the Dollar Store, then added some soil and this adorable succulent from Lowes. The lines of the plant paired perfectly with the lantern. I always top my succulents off with a layer of moss, also found at the Dollar Store. This helps keep the moisture in, soil neat and it looks good too. So for a total of about $14 I have a beautiful and unique piece.
The little door on front meant for the candles makes it handy to open and spray the plant with water when needed. Succulents have quickly become a favorite to many because they are compact, easy to care for and simply adorable. Lowes has one of my favorite collection of succulents. So your challenge today is look around your home and “think outside the box”…can you repurpose, reuse or redesign something? If so, be sure to share it with me!

Very energetic article, I liked that bit. Will there be a part 2?
