One Room Challenge Urban Industrial Vintage Laundry Room REVEAL
It’s time…the One Room Challenge Urban Industrial Vintage Laundry Room Reveal is here!! That’s a mouthful I know…but I wanted lots of style in here! 😉 Thanks for hanging in there each week…one peek at a time! A huge Thank You to Linda of Calling it Home and House Beautiful for hosting such a great event! If you need to catch up on Week’s 1-5 click here… Week 1 Week 2 Week3 , Week 4 and Week 5. As with all my One Room Challenges…the challenge is to create a new and exciting space, that is functional and full of budget friendly DIY’s. Ok, let’s get on with the Reveal!
So our Laundry Room is on the second floor and it’s filled with sunlight in the morning and pretty much all day. It’s a good size room and had the typical builder grade materials… tile floor, Formica countertops and wire shelving. It was functional but boring, so I decided to make this “new space” fun, functional and a little funky! This room looks twice the size now and is far from “typical.” See what we did, on a budget and without a contractor! 😉
Just so you know I’m going to give you a tour with lots of pretty pics. I’ll be doing a follow-up post with detailed sources, items, and links as well as Tips & Tricks to these DIY’s and products used. Sign up for my emails so you don’t miss it!

As you walk into the room the Utility sink is on the left. Before it tended to be ignored and underutilized. Now it’s a focal point with this stunning mirror from Selections by Chaumont which not only bounces light around but looks like a second window in the space.
A Chic Home makes you Happy and a Happy Home makes you Chic!
I came across this quote and I thought it was so appropriate for this space…I would never have thought I’d call our Laundry Room Chic…but I do now!! 🙂
I can’t believe how incredible the Marble countertops turned out from EZFaux Decor. You’re going to definitely want to see my follow-up post on this one…I have lots of tips for you!
One of the vintage pieces I added to the space was this German scale. Some handmade pottery holds craft brushes and my glam scissors. A couple of marble and gold hooks from Target add a little fancy and function to this corner.
I picked up this “heavy” marble container at Bed Bath & Beyond…it was on clearance. I believe it’s supposed to be a waste basket, but I’m using it as a cool container for my laundry detergent. I thought it would make my soaps and cleaners look fancier! 😉 And it fits perfectly.
Now let’s talk about that wallpaper! I am so in love with it, it makes me smile every time I walk in the room! I can’t wait to do another space…and fast! I’ll share some do’s and don’t’s in my follow up post and hopefully this will save you time and money. I just love the texture and dimension it adds to the room…the bricks look so real and my whole family loves it. I’m very impressed with this product from Milton & King Wallpaper.
I knew I wanted touches of Gold in the room and these Target hanging planters were just perfect.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m so thrilled we installed this fan from Lamps Plus instead of just a light. Being upstairs AND being a laundry room in Florida it can get hot. This fan has made such an incredible difference…and talk about Industrial…bulbs and all!!
If you follow me on my Instagram, you know I love Letters and all things related to Typography. So naturally, I had to have my own unique “LAUNDRY” sign. I collected these from different stores so I could have a variety of textures, sizes, and colors. It adds to the funky industrial vibe I wanted in here!
I added an Industrial White Shelving Cart for storage. I wanted this new space to be functional as well as beautiful. Over the last few weeks, I’ve collected various containers for storing soaps, towels, etc. Again, I wanted a collected look with lots of texture and a little bit of color.
Vintage milk glass makes for cute storage.
P.S. I told you this room gets lots of sun…it was just shining away the day I took pics! But I love the view of the woods out this window:)
How gorgeous is this rug? I love the look of cowhide…but metallic cowhide??? Seriously! When I was dreaming up this space in my head, I knew I wanted a few funky fun pieces and this rug is definitely one of them! What I love about this rug from Rugs USA is that it’s soft and doesn’t have that feel of a stiff cowhide…it’s really soft and flexible and my family approves. They get kind of freaked out by them, but this one is family approved! I may get one for the living room! 😉
What’s a reveal without Fresh Flowers? My wonderful friends at BloomThat provided me with the perfect ones for the space. Use the code GIVEBLOOMS to receive $10 off an order of $35 or more.
So now let’s check out the other side of the room. Mr. BeesNBurlap’s favorite DIY in the whole space was the wood wall. I’m thrilled with how it turned out. I decided to choose one with a faint pattern on it…can you see it? I mentioned in Week 4 that I had alot of different patterns going in this room, but they all work together. This wood is perfect in every way. I’ll be sharing more details and tips on the Stikwood wall in my next post. Another product I’m hoping to use again soon!
We had a typical Formica countertop with the wire shelving and stuff literally shoved under the counter…I have 3 teenagers ok? 🙂 Now it’s stylish, stunning and I have attractive organized storage!!!
Remember in Week 4 when I mentioned I would be using Shades from The Shade Store for something not window related? Well, here you go. I wanted half of the storage underneath for the cool industrial hampers I got and the other half I needed for storage but didn’t want to look at it. Super cool pattern, easy to access and stylishly hidden! I’m in love!
Now you see it…
Now you don’t!
I bought an antique industrial drafting table a couple of years ago because the iron work was so beautiful. The top was pretty much destroyed but I couldn’t pass up this beautiful piece of metal. I used it here as a drying rack. It works perfectly with the Industrial design and adds that vintage touch you can’t get with new pieces. I love to repurpose something old.
One of my other favorite vintage pieces in the room is my large white scale. This big guy fits perfectly in this corner and adds the character and charm I love.
I decided to add a large vintage blue bottle for all the spare change I tend to find in the laundry. Let’s check back in a few months and see how much it’s grown!;)
I added some beautiful artwork from the talented Maren Devine. I think it has a great Urban Art style!
I added these watercolor vinyl Decals from Shop B Darling for that unexpected touch of color and whimsy.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the Reveal!! When my family walks into this room and tells me how much they love it, it makes all the hard work worthwhile!! We have new walls, new counters, new storage and a whole new look! I hope I have inspired you to try at least one DIY or project in your home! Be sure to sign up for my Blog emails so you don’t miss the next post which will be full of sources, items and links to products used here. I’ll also be sharing lots of tips, tricks and lessons learned…so stay tuned!

Sarah Barton says
Hi! Can you tell me how you hung the Laundry letters on the brick? My laundry room is also sunny with brick walls – and your room is such an inspiraton! I have similar letters to hang. Did you use brick screws or something else?
beesnbur says
Thank you Sarah. My brick is actually wallpaper!! But if it were me I’d look at using command strips and hooks or even putty for hanging your letters if they are lightweight enough. That stuff is amazing!
beesnbur says
Such a wonderful collaboration! Love The Shade Store!
